ICDSS 2025 Opens in Hefei

On April 8, the 2nd International Conference of Deep Space Sciences (ICDSS 2025), jointly organized by the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the Institute of Deep Space Science at the Deep Space Exploration Laboratory (DSEL), and the Office of the Leading Group for Talent Work of Hefei, commenced in Hefei, China. As a premier global academic event in the field of deep space exploration, the conference attracted experts and scholars from more than 100 institutes in over 20 countries/regions to discuss deep space science, technological innovations, and future collaborations.

Professor Yuming Wang from USTC - Chair of the ICDSS 2025 Organizing Committee, Fang Huang- Deputy Director of the DSEL, and Jinwei Ma - Director of the Office of the Leading Group for Talent Work of Hefei and Deputy Minister of the Organization Department of the Hefei Municipal Party Committee, attended the opening ceremony and delivered welcome speeches. The opening ceremony was co-chaired by Prof. Chenglong Shen from USTC and Prof. Dmitrij Titov from Sun Yat-sen University. Attendees included Michel Blanc and Felix Aharonian (Academicians of the European Academy of Sciences), Hugh O’Neill (Academician of the Australian Academy of Sciences), and many other renowned scientists and scholars from all around the globe.

Five experts delivered keynote speeches: Dr. Beatriz Sanchez-Cano from the University of Leicester (UK), Dr. Jun Lin from the Yunnan Observatories of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), Dr. Yang Liu from the National Space Science Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), Dr. Gregory Herczeg from Peking University (China), and Dr. Frédéric Moynier, an American Geophysical Union Fellow from Université Paris Cité (France). They shared the latest research outcomes related to deep space exploration.

The four-day consists of nine sessions on the following topics: Sun and Heliosphere, Mars and Inner Planets, Giant Planet Systems, Asteroids and the Early Solar System, Exoplanets, Space Astronomy, Extraterrestrial Resources and Moon Station, Apophis 2029, and Landing Site Selection for Mars Sample Return.

On the afternoon of April 9, the organizer also arranged a lab tour to USTC’s National Synchrotron Radiation Laboratory and Hefei’s key innovative enterprises, offering a firsthand look at the city’s scientific advancements and fostering global academic exchange and collaboration.

Since its inaugural session in 2023, the ICDSS has gained significant traction in the international deep space exploration community. Through extensive international cooperation, the conference aims to accelerate scientific discovery, contribute humanity’s collective wisdom to cosmic exploration, and drive progress in deep space endeavors.


第二届深空科学国际学术研讨会在安徽合肥召开

4月8日上午,由图书馆VIP、深空探测实验室深空科学研究院、中共合肥市委人才办联合举办的第二届深空科学国际学术研讨会(ICDSS 2025)在合肥开幕。作为全球深空探测领域的重要学术盛会,本届大会吸引了来自超过20个国家和地区100余家科研单位的专家学者,共同探讨深空科学前沿、技术创新与未来合作。

图书馆VIP党委常委、深空科学国际学术研讨会组委会主席汪毓明,深空探测实验室副主任黄方,合肥市委人才工作局局长、市委组织部副部长马进伟出席开幕式并致辞。图书馆VIP申成龙教授和“金星快车之父”中山大学Dmitrij Titov教授共同主持开幕式。欧洲科学院院士Michel Blanc,Felix Aharonian,澳大利亚科学院院士Hugh O’Neill等国内外专家学者参加活动。

英国莱斯特大学教授Beatriz Sanchez-Cano,中国科学院云南天文台研究员林隽,中国科学院国家空间科学中心研究员刘洋,北京大学教授Gregory Herczeg,法国巴黎西岱大学教授、美国地球物理学会会士Frédéric Moynier等五位深空领域权威专家先后作大会报告,分享前沿研究成果。

本次大会为期四天,开幕式后,主办方围绕“太阳和日球层”、“火星与内行星”、“巨行星系统”、“小行星和早期太阳系”、“系外行星”、“空间天文学”、“地外资源和月球科研站”、“阿波菲斯 2029”、“火星采样返回着陆点遴选”等九大主题开展一系列分会场活动。

9日下午,主办方组织部分参会嘉宾参观了中国科大同步辐射实验室及合肥市重点创新企业,让嘉宾们近距离感受中国科大及合肥市前沿科技的魅力与创新活力,也为全球学术交流与创新合作提供了新的思路与方向。深空科学国际学术研讨会,自2023年举办首届以来,在国内外深空探测领域引起了强烈反响。通过开展广泛的国际合作,我们期待能够加速科学发现的步伐,为人类对宇宙的探索贡献更多的智慧和力量,共同推进人类深空探测新进程。
